LIFE-ND trains incubatees on basic accounting skills
In order to make incubatees succeed in their various commodity areas, the Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprises in Niger Delta, LIFE-ND has organized a one day training programme on basic accounting and book keeping for 200 incubatees selected for the 2024 project year.
The training programme tagged ” Working Session on Basic Accounting and Book Keeping which was held in Yenagoa Bayelsa State is aimed at equipping the incubatees with the necessary skills to effectively manage their agri businesses.
A resource person who doubles as the State Project Accountant of LIFE-ND, Mrs. Ebikewenimo Bidein harped on the important of record keeping which according to her will enabling them manage their businesses successfully.
Bidein highlighted the benefits derived from accurate record keeping which includes helps in determining the profitability of allthe business, enable a business man or woman to ascertain the income and expenditure and also enables a business man to control finances.
She emphasized that LIFE-ND will go round the various incubation centres to monitor incubatees to ascertain if the are really putting the lessons learnt during the workshop to practice, adding that those are not carrying out proper book keeping LIFE-ND engaged them with practical sessions in the farms
She therefore urged incubatees to take the LIFE-ND agri business seriously and always ensure that they keep accurate records of their financial activities.
Speaking on how to succeed in business, the Financial Officer of LIFE-ND, Mr. Sambo Ekpokeme said for incubatees to succeed they need to have passion for the business and be dedicated and committed.
Ekpokeme said most businesses fail because those in charge never monitor progress or otherwise in order to make amends when things arenolmnj to the going properly.
An incubatees from Amassoma community, in Southern Ijaw LGA attached to NDU Poultry Farm, Atagboro Oyeindenkupofa said the training has enlightened them on the importance of book keeping to their businesses and thanked LIFE-ND for the opportunity to be a beneficiary of the programme.
Also speaking, Happiness Agua, an incubatees from Sagbama LGA said the training has opened her eyes on the benefits derived from proper record keeping.
