Nigeria has reaffirmed its readiness to attract the next wave of global energy investments, leveraging its abundant hydrocarbon resources, ongoing industry reforms and strategic advantages to create mutually beneficial opportunities for investors and the nation.

In a statement issued by Nneamaka Okafor, Special Assistant on Media and Communication to the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Ph.D., made this known while speaking at a ministerial panel session titled “Competing for Capital: Who Will Win the Next Wave of Energy Investment?” at the 2026 Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC).

Lokpobiri emphasised that Nigeria is committed to creating an investment climate that guarantees commercially viable opportunities while supporting sustainable production growth and national economic development.

“Nigeria is not simply inviting investors because we have oil; we are creating the right conditions for them to develop our resources, expand production and earn sustainable returns while contributing meaningfully to our national development,” he stated.

He highlighted significant investment opportunities across exploration, deepwater development, brownfield redevelopment, marginal fields, refining, gas development and other segments of the petroleum value chain.

The Minister also highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen regulatory certainty, improve fiscal frameworks, enhance operational efficiency and address security challenges affecting production, noting that these measures are critical to building investor confidence.

He further identified Nigeria’s strategic location on the Gulf of Guinea as an important advantage for investors seeking access to West African and wider African energy markets.

According to him, Nigeria’s ultimate objective is to translate investment commitments into productive assets, increased petroleum output, employment opportunities, industrial growth and sustainable national prosperity.

“Nigeria is ready to compete for global energy capital, build strategic partnerships and translate its vast petroleum potential into lasting economic value for the benefit of investors and our people,” he affirmed.
