Minister of State Petroleum Resources(Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri has said he was desirous of bequeathing the legacy of being the Minister’ who increased Nigeria’s crude oil production ratio to four million(4million) barrels per day.
He gave the indication in his country home, Ekeremor town, headquarters of the Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State while speaking with Newsmen shortly after a civic reception organized by the Local Government to honour him and other illustrious sons and a daughter of the Local Government Area on their recent appointments and professional achievements at the weekend.
The Oil Minister said though the country’s crude oil production ratio has significantly improved from about 900,000(nine hundred to over 1,700,000m(one million and seven hundred thousand) barrels per day, he would be glad to see a far better improved production ratio of no fewer than 4,000,000 barrels per day upon the termination of his appointment as Minister.
He noted that though the Niger Delta region suffers from oil and gas related environmental hazards, there are more non-oil and gas related hazards in the region’s aquatic and land environment.
Lokpobiri who also bared his mind on the current cost of petroleum pump price appealed to Nigerians to support the extant policies of the President Bola Tinubu’s administration as it pertains to the oil and gas sector, noting however, that there are hopes that things would soon normalize.
He lauded President Tinubu for finding him worthy to serve in his Government as Petroleum (Oil) Ministe of state , tasking the Ekeremor people to reciprocate the President’s gesture by voting en masse for him in his second tenure, come 2027.
We report that the Ekeremor Local Government Area on Saturday, 11 March held a civic reception in honour of Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State Petroleum Resources (Oil), Mrs Bekearedebo Augusta Warrens, member, Governing Board of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board(NCDMB).
Other honoured in the civic reception include, Senator Dimaro Denyanbofa, Bayelsa State Representative on the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), and two lawyers of the Local Government’s origin, Felix Okorotie and Kemesuode Wodu on their excellence as legal practitioners and subsequent elation to the ranks of Senior Advocates of Nigeria(SANs.)
“I’ll like to leave the legacy of being the one Minister of Petroleum (Oil) who came and increased Nigeria’s crude oil production benchmark from about 1.5m barrels per day to at least 4m barrels per day.
I’m grateful to President Tinubu for finding me worthy to serve in his Government as Petroleum Resources (Oil) Minister. I’ll like the Ekeremor people to reciprocate the President’s kindness to them by voting en masse for him in his second term, come 2027.
“For me a ‘Prophet’ has been honoured in his home. I also want to thank the Ekeremor people and the Bayelsa State Government for the honour done me and others through the civic reception held in our honour today”, he said.
