Labour Party has conducted a peaceful and ranchor- Free state And National Assembly primaries into constituencies and Senatorial district of Bayelsà State.
The Primaries was supervised by the Chairman of the State Primaries Election Committee, Dr. Kingsley Ineritei of Niger Delta University, Amassoma.
The primaries produced a Senatorial candidate, Four Candidates for Federal Constituencies and Nine candidates for the State House of Assembly seats.
Among those that emerged include Elohim Commander Tamarau-emi John for the Bayelsa West Senatorial District.
Others for the Federal Constituencies include Talbot MacLean Johnnie (Ogbia Federal Constituency), Barr.Enu Kikanwa Timipre (Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency), Goodluck Subai Keme (Yenagoa/Kolokuna Federal Constituency) and Odayibo Peremobo-Owei Precious Ekeremor/Sagbama Federal Constituency).
Among those that emerged candidates for the State House of Assembly seats include Hon. David Taylor Fyne (Southern Ijaw Constituency 1), Queen Ebiye Japhet (Yenagoa Constituency 2), Chief Tovie Pelesai (Yenagoa Constituency 1), Bolou Favour (Kolokuma/Opokuma Federal Constituency 1) and Laiye Abraham Tueidei (Southern Ijaw Constuency 4).
Others include Epidei Funlayefa Fiyeke (Ekeremor Constituency 2),Nanyo Ayebagbalinyo Isaac (Nembe Constituency 1), Iti Baratuapre Samson. (Southern Ijaw Constituency) and Toby Ebiwenimoh Bernard (Sagbama Constituency 3).
Speaking during the event, the Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) in Bayelsà, Mr. Eneyi G.R.Zidougha said despite the peaceful and rancour free nature of the primaries, there are issues within the fold of the party which has made both members and aspiring aspirants to have some level of uncertainty.
He recalled the leadership of the party had through court injunction picked a National Caretaker Chairman in the person of Senator Esther Usman Nenadi to pilot party for now and the party has since after the 2023 general Election been bedevil by individuals who didn’t mean well for the Party and it led to the removal of the legitimate National Chairman Barr.Julius Abure.
He also acknowledged the presence of National leaders of the party at the primaries including the Deputy National Women Leader Barr.Enu Kikanwa Timipre and State Secretary Mr .Talbot Johnnie.
He said “It’s not a hidden fact that there are issues of leadership in our party which has made both members and aspiring aspirants to have some level of uncertainty.”

He however confirmed that the State and National Assembly primaries are taking place nationwide despite the Court imposed National Caretaker Chairman which has divide the once united political party.
He noted that as a law abiding party and in recognition of the fact that Usman Nenadi is at the National INEC portal, “In 30 States, congresses were held on December 2, 4 and 6 respectively. Our names are at both the State and National levels of INEC which the Party leadership under Sen.Nenadi should also recognized.”
He expressed confidence that the Barr. Julius Abure led leadership has filed to the Supreme court to challenge the outcome of the Court of Appeal judgement of April 21,2026, “We are hoping and trusting God that the Supreme Court will come out with the true Judgement and return Barr.Julius Abure as the legitimate and constitutionally elected National Chairman.”
“As it did on the 22nd of May 2026 affirming Gombe -Led SDP leadership ,nullifying the previous Appeal Court Ruling )Which means that a Caretaker Committee leadership of a political party cannot dissolve an existing constitutional elected leadership of a political party.”
“As we gathered here today for the primaries of the authentic leadership of labour party Bayelsa State.I urge us to conduct ourselves for a peaceful and fruitful party Primaries to elect our flag bearers for the forthcoming general elections.”
