The President-General of Mbiaso Youths, Comrade Emmanuel Okon Akpan, has commended the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for the construction, dualisation and commissioning of the Ebong/Mbiaso community road in Amanyam Clan, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area. Akpan said the road, which had been in a deplorable condition for years, had become a death trap and seriously hindered economic activities between the affected communities. The youth leader made the commendation while speaking with journalists at his country home in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area. According to him, the poor condition of the road had subjected residents of the communities to hardship, while restricting the movement of people and the flow of commercial activities. He, however, said the completion of the road had brought relief to the people and demonstrated the presence of government in the area through the Governor’s ARISE Agenda. Akpan said the people of Mbiaso and neighbouring communities would not take the governor’s intervention for granted, noting that the project had ended years of frustration associated with the deplorable road. He expressed optimism that the improved road infrastructure would boost economic activities, facilitate movement and improve the general wellbeing of the people. The Mbiaso youth leader further commended Governor Eno for demonstrating commitment to development rather than playing politics with government projects. He said the governor had, through the ARISE Agenda, shown that his administration was committed to delivering projects that would benefit the people and provide the dividends of democracy. Akpan declared that the youths of Mbiaso Community would continue to support the governor, saying they would massively vote for him when the opportunity arises. He also commended the Chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Hon. Aniefiok Nkom, for what he described as his developmental strides and commitment to the people. The youth leader particularly praised Nkom for his role in the coronation of the Paramount Ruler of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, urging other political leaders to emulate his example. Akpan also appreciated the state government for recognising village youth presidents across Akwa Ibom State, describing the development as an important step towards strengthening grassroots participation and security. He assured that the youths of Mbiaso would continue to work with relevant authorities to maintain peace and security in the communities. He said the youths would not allow enemies of progress to take advantage of the communities to cause crises or unrest, stressing that they would remain vigilant and support efforts aimed at protecting lives and property.
