The Executive Secretary, NCDMB, Engr. Simbi Kesiye Wabote (FNSE, FIPS) earlier today commissioned the NCDMB ICT Center at Opokuma Grammar School, Opokuma, Bayelsa State.

The ICT centre consists of desktop computers, 30KVA Generator, 24/7 Internet service and eLibrary as well as a Solar Power Inverter system.

The Executive Secretary, NCDMB, Engr. Simbi Kesiye Wabote (FNSE, FIPS) represented by Mr Isaac Yalah, Director, Finance & Personnel Management, NCDMB was accompanied to the commissioning by Dr. Ginah O. Ginah (FNSE), GM, CC/ZC, NCDMB, Mr Ifeanyi Okowa, Manager, Finance, NCDMB & other staff of the Board

Dr. Ginah O. Ginah (FNSE) GM, CC/ZC, NCDMB in his welcome remarks noted that the commissioning of this ICT centre is inline with the Board’s mandate to enhance local capacity in the oil and gas industry.
“The centre will help to prepare students with requisite knowledge and skills going forward, as well as to equip the students with up to date information and trends in the oil and gas industry.” Dr. Ginah highlighted.

The centre will also serve as a knowledge centre and an internet library for all students research.

“The use of this center will be monitored, and there will be assessment of the improvement of students’ performance. If there is improvement in the students overall performance then the Board will continue to do more” He added.

He urged the community and the school (staff and students) to protect the facility and ensure its safe usage and overall safety.

Mr Isaac Yalah, Director, Finance and Personnel Management, NCDMB, in a goodwill message thanked everyone present and enjoined all stakeholders to collaborate and make maximum use and protect this 24Hrs internet ICT facility. He also charged the school to encourage eLearning tools.

HRM King Collins Aranka, Opu-Okun (V), King of Opokuma, in his goodwill message on behalf of the community appreciated the Board noting that Ilaye facility will not only serve the community but other communities around will also benefit.

Hon. Wisdom Fafi, Honourable member representing KOLGA Constituency II in the BYSHA, in his goodwill message advised staff and students of the school to own and protect the facility. He appreciated the #NCDMB for the laudable project of immeasurable importance.

Mr Femone Daniel, Principal of Opokuma Grammar School, on behalf of the entire staff and students of the school thanked the #NCDMB for the commendable project and promised that the students will make maximum use of the ICT centre.
