NCDMB PICTORIALS: Inauguration of Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit
The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) today inaugurated new members of the NCDMB Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) at the Nigerian Content Tower in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
In October 2001, the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) was established by the ICPC as one of the implementation mechanisms for its mandate on prohibition and prevention of corruption especially in the Public Service.
ACTUs are established in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and operate as autonomous outfits with functional linkages with the office of the Chief Executives of the MDAs.
The Executive Secretary, NCDMB, Engr. Simbi Kesiye Wabote (FNSE, FIPS) in his welcome address commended the ICPC for having ACTU in MDAs. He urged all staff to give full support to ACTU-NCDMB and charged the newly inaugurated members to be beacons of light & maintain high moral standards.
The ES assured ACTU-NCDMB of his total support and urged them to carry out their activities without any inhibitions.
In closing, Engr. Simbi congratulated the chairman and members of ACTU-NCDMB.
In a goodwill message, the ICPC Chairman Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, SAN, represented by Mrs Ekere Usiere urged the new members of ACTU-NCDMB to be responsible in the discharge of their duties. “Your goal is to achieve total success.”
He urged members not to witch-hunt other staff.
Dr. Ginah O. Ginah (FNSE) GM, CC/ZC, NCDMB, and outgoing Chairman, ACTU-NCDMB in his goodwill message thanked the ES, staff of the Board and the ICPC for the support given them during his tenure.
He also thanked ACTU-NCDMB members for the maximum commitment & tenacity during their tenure.
The new ACTU-NCDMB Chairman, Dr Akintunde Adelana (FIMC, FCIPS) Director, Monitoring & Evaluation, NCDMB, in his acceptance speech thanked the ES, NCDMB & the ICPC for the opportunity to serve in this capacity. He promised to be firm & continue from where his predecessor stopped.
The new ACTU-NCDMB consists of Dr. Akintunde Adelana as Chairman, other members include:
Seleke-Ere Owoupele, Ademola Kaka, Fateema Mohammed, Suleiman Ozimede and Ilu Ozekhome.
