NDDC Honored as Interventionist Agency of the Year

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has been recognized as the Interventionist Agency of the Year 2024 by Daily Independent newspaper in acknowledgment of its transformative impact and developmental strides in the Niger Delta region.

A statement by Seledi Thompson-Wakama
Director, Corporate Affairs noted that the prestigious Independent Awards 2024 ceremony took place at the Convention Centre, Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, celebrating individuals and organizations that have significantly contributed to national development.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the NDDC Governing Board, Mr. Chiedu Ebie, described the award as both an honor and a call to greater service.

> “The reward for hard work is more work. For us at the NDDC, this award means we must redouble our efforts. We remain committed to sustainable development and infrastructure that will positively impact the lives of the Niger Delta people,” he stated.

Similarly, NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, expressed appreciation for the recognition while emphasizing the Commission’s resolve to do more.

> “This award is an encouragement to intensify our efforts. The Niger Delta still requires more infrastructure and development. If a newspaper of this magnitude recognizes our contributions, then we must work even harder for the people,” he remarked.

The NDDC Executive Director of Corporate Services, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde, highlighted the Commission’s strategic shift from transactional to transformational engagements, citing recently completed and commissioned projects across Rivers, Imo, Delta, and Abia states.

> “This award validates our commitment to meaningful development. It will inspire us to achieve even more and not relent in our efforts,” he said.

The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including NDDC Executive Director of Finance and Administration, Alabo Boma Iyaye; Executive Director of Projects, Sir Victor Antai; and other senior officials of the Commission.
