The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation has marked World Savings day with Theme: ACT OF HUMANITY on 28th November 2024
The event took place at Okutukutu/Etegwe community secondary school in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Adefemi Shaba who represented the Zonal controller, noted that the NDIC decided to select community secondary school Okutukutu/Etegwe as a point to enlighten the students on the Importance of owning an account in the bank.
He urged them to imbibe the culture of saving, adding that the corporation guarantees depositors of money in deposit banks the safety of their money.
Shaba further reiterated that the NDIC is a subsidiary of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Federal Ministry of Finance, it is an organisation that assist the FG to reaslise it policy objective of safety of depositors money.
He distinguished the NDIC as a special insurance organisation with the sole purpose of being one of the best insurance corporation in the World.
In his welcome remark, the principal of the school Dr Fineboy Ezekiel expressed joy that that the school was choosen from all the schools in the South-South Zone, and thanked the NDIC for coming to enlighten the students on the need to imbibe the culture of saving among them.
In a brief remark, Mrs Tariye Okara an official of the ministry of Education who represented the commissioner Dr Gentle Omelah, also thanked the NDIC for the initiative of marking the World Savings Day with students in the State.
