In a renewed push for infrastructure development in Bayelsa State, the Nembe Se Congress—a pan-Nembe group representing all Nembe-speaking communities—has declared its commitment to partnering with AIL Infrastructure Limited for the timely and quality delivery of the Nembe-Brass Road.

The resolution emerged at a strategic engagement between stakeholders of the Nembe Se Congress and officials of AIL Infrastructure Limited, held in Yenagoa on Monday, May 26, 2025.

President of the Nembe Se Congress, Sir Chief Dr. Ebiegberi Domo-Spiff, praised Governor Douye Diri for his bold step in driving the construction of Phase One of the road. He also lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government for approving Phase Two of the project, which is expected to open up Nembe and Brass LGAs to new economic opportunities.

Dr. Domo-Spiff, however, warned against any compromise on construction standards. He urged the contractors to stick to the job specifications, noting that the Congress will not accept any form of substandard delivery. He assured the construction firm of the Congress’s cooperation in maintaining a peaceful environment throughout the project.

Other notable stakeholders at the meeting included Professor Kingsley Alagoa, Sir Chief Howells Aburuku, Dr. E. Young-Dede, and Engr. Hans Alagoa. They collectively emphasized that the completion of the road would significantly enhance the socio-economic wellbeing of the Nembe people, Bayelsa State, the Niger Delta, and Nigeria as a whole.

Responding, the Project Director of AIL Infrastructure Limited, Engr. Leonard Obibi, alongside Federal Ministry of Works representatives—Engr. Solomon Odang and Engr. Gideon Ikhine—thanked the Nembe Se Congress for their support and insights.

They pledged strict adherence to quality standards and assured that the 21-kilometre road, which includes over six bridges, would be completed and handed over within three years. The company confirmed that necessary equipment has already been deployed to the former Agip, now Oando terminal in Twon Brass, as preparations for the commencement of full-scale work are in place.

The Nembe-Brass Road, awarded by the Federal Government in 2024, is poised to become a critical link for economic growth and connectivity in the riverine axis of Bayelsa.
