The Village Head-Elect of Nnung Ita Obio Nkan in Orok Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Ime Benson Daniel, has declared that the community’s internally generated revenue is meant for infrastructural development and not for sharing among individuals.
Chief Daniel made the clarification while speaking with journalists shortly after inspecting ongoing projects in the community.
He explained that his administration remains committed to ensuring that development reaches every part of the community through the prudent use of internally generated revenue.
According to him, any expectation that community funds would be shared among individuals is misguided, stressing that the funds are meant to improve the welfare of the people and provide the dividends of grassroots leadership.
He urged village executives, family heads, and stakeholders to support the administration’s vision for community development, noting that leaders have a responsibility to promote the welfare and security of their people.
Chief Daniel further warned that his administration would not tolerate any form of criminality in the community. He advised youths to shun unlawful activities, stressing that anyone found encouraging or engaging in criminal acts would face the consequences.
Speaking on some of the achievements recorded so far, the village head-elect said his administration had renovated and equipped the village hall with modern facilities and supplied 20 streetlights to the Ikot Abat axis of the community.
He added that plans were underway to renovate the Ebet Obo Idio Udo Market, relocate the Primary Healthcare Centre from the Qua Iboe Church premises to its permanent site, and extend streetlight projects to other parts of the community.
Chief Daniel described his administration as an open-door government and called on residents to promote love, unity, and peaceful coexistence in order to sustain development and progress in the area.
He emphasized that the people of the community are law-abiding citizens and urged them to continue shunning crises, violence, and unrest.
