National President of BRACED Union (BU) – a socio-political pressure group in the vanguard of regional development of the six South-South states of Nigeria – High Chief Wehere Monday, JP, have reiterated the need for Biafra apologists to desist from including any part of the South-South region of BRACED into their proposed Biafra enclave.

High Chief Wehere, made this pronouncement as a fall out from an emergency congress of BRACED Union (BU) which held on BU’s virtual platforms on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.

A statement signed by Comr Amatare Mozimo
National Director of Media (Electronics) said the pro-South-South group frowned at the recurring trend of Biafra proponents craftily including Niger Delta ethnic nationalities into their Biafra map.

Describing the trend as disturbing, the BU helmsman emphasized that “no part of the South-South Region should be added to their Biafra map as BRACED States are independent of the South-East which is primarily made up of Igbo tribes and the BRACED states are not igbos,” he maintained.

On the current moves by the Federal Government to re-introduce regional governments as fenerating units of the Nigerian nation, as part of the federal government’s restructuring policy, the BU National President, commended the gesture for the executive bills to the National Assembly to that effect.

BU also lauded the ongoing bill for the South-South Development Commission (SSDC) and appealed that an experienced hand such as Ambassador Joe Keshi, be made the First Director-General of the proposed SSDC as his experiences and exposure on regional and global development are second to none.

“Amb. Keshi is the man for the job. He has what it takes. With the proposed SSDC under the leadership of a man like Keshi, the BRACED states shall experience fair and steady development across board. We believe in his capabilities. Keshi has done it with the BRACED Commission and can do it again with SSDC”!” Chief Wehere echoed.

In all, the BU National President thanked President Tinubu for these steps taken towards the re-introduction for regional government, as this shall go a long way to give bite to talks on restructuring which has hitherto become more of campaign rhetorics than actual .
