Oil companies ignore calls to compensate communities ravaged by oil spill

The secretary of Akwa Ibom community oil producing net work, Mr Emmanuel Bassey said oil companies has continue to generate deaf hear over issues of compensation to those communities seriously affected by oil spill.
Mr Emmanuel Bassey who spoke with media practitioners in Uyo during the thanksgiving of AKIBOM in Christ Glorious Ministry.
The secretary said development has seriously damage their lands, farms, crops etc especially seafood which is unfortunate experience and having no hope on their livelihood needs serious assistance which the oil companies should do the needful.
According to him, the organization speak for the voiceless people which ginger them with the power of attorney calling on the oil companies to carefully follow the international best practice without compromise.
The coordinator Etim Ekpo L.G.A AKIBOM, Chief Friday Okon condemn the activities of oil companies on the communities indigenes who has suffered and face serious hardship without recognizing their predicament.
The Royal father said the oil companies should cooperate with the communities before it goes out of hand, while also called the government to look into the matter that their citizens are suffering.
