The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended the Chairman of its Caretaker Committee (CTC) in Rivers State, Hon. Nname Ewor, over alleged alignment with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The party announced that Ewor was suspended both as Caretaker Chairman and as a member of the PDP, citing actions deemed capable of undermining and destabilising the party in the state.

Following the development, the Secretary of the Caretaker Committee, Chief Ogbam Ojimah, has assumed office as Acting Chairman of the committee.

Speaking after an emergency meeting of the CTC held on Saturday, Ojimah stated that Ewor had effectively relinquished his position by openly aligning with Wike, who he noted had been expelled from the party.

He reaffirmed the committee’s loyalty to the leadership of the PDP under its national structure, stressing that the FCT minister remains expelled and that any form of association with him is unacceptable to the party.

Ojimah further maintained that Wike has no authority to interfere in the affairs of the PDP, adding that the Rivers State chapter dissociates itself from all actions and statements credited to Ewor.

According to him, the Caretaker Committee resolved as follows:

that it dissociates itself from the press statements and public utterances attributed to Dr. Nname Robinson Ewor;

that the public should note that Hon. Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike has already been expelled from the PDP and therefore has no right to meddle in the party’s affairs; that by his actions and speeches, Dr. Ewor had voluntarily resigned his position as Caretaker Chairman;

that the committee formally suspends Dr. Ewor as Chairman and member of the Caretaker Committee of the PDP in Rivers State, and that no one should transact party business with him in that capacity.

The committee also unanimously appointed Chief Ogbam Ojimah as Acting Chairman and Dr. Baribefu Fidunko as Acting Secretary of the PDP in Rivers State.

Ojimah concluded by assuring party members and the general public that the Rivers State PDP remains focused on repositioning itself for competitive elections and effective service delivery under the leadership of Kabiru Turaki as National Chairman of the party.
