The Senator representing Bayelsa East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Benson Sunday Agadaga has hinted that the smooth implementation of the Petroleum Industry Law by stakeholders in the upstream and downstream sectors will positively impact on the developmental aspirations of the people in the Niger Delta region and create a roadmap for its accelerated growth as well as human capital development.
The Senator who shared his thoughts on the activities of the 10th Senate during a world Press conference in Yenagoa also lauded the interventionist agency, The Niger Delta Development Commission,NDDC in its recent role to light up Bayelsa and deliberate efforts to provide road infrastructure as well as other dividends of democracy to the people of Bayelsa.
The Senator said: ” The passion in the helmsman, Dr Samuel Ogbuku to develop the region is reassuring, however, I think we need to look inwards at the strategic objectives of setting up the commission, there are many things left undone and stakeholders have decided to remain quite, we should collaborate and build bridges of development that will impact on her people, 2024 is a year for us to re-evaluate our objectives and set our eyes on the goal.”
The former Bayelsa State Information, Orientation and Strategy Commissioner called on Bayelsans to rally round the present Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri who has spent the last four years in rewriting the infrastructure, security, sports, education,judiciary,human capital development and other sectoral stories of the State:
“The Governor has a deliberate plan which he has unveiled in the last years, the road from Nembe to Brass in the East, The road to the deep sea Agge in Ekeremor, the Central Link road at the Central Senatorial District heading to Ukubie and many other Infrastructure are clear testament of the Prosperity administration”
The Senator who is also chairman of the Senate Committee on Host communities says the new year provides a new Vesta of opportunity to cross fertilize ideas with other strategic stakeholders to deepen the democratic process and build trust between oil companies and their host. He said mutual trust is key and there was no need to breed misunderstanding as no nation can develop in an insecure Area.
The Senator who is also a member of over 13 committee’s in the Senate ranging from Power, Aviation, Education ( Basic and Secondary), Anti corruption and Financial Agencies, Airforce, Industries, National Planning and Economic Affairs, Public Procurement,Senate Services, Downstream sector,Niger Delta Affairs Ministry, NDDC,FERMA, and Special Duties noted that he will use his contact to attract more projects to Bayelsa State and especially his senatorial district’ to repose the confidence bestowed upon him by his people.
