Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Ph.D, the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), has warned that the Federal Government may decide to distribute the funds accruing to communities through the implementation of the PIA Act, as it sees.

He made this statement during a dinner held in his honour at the Banquet Hall of the NCDMB Events Centre.

The event was organised by NNPC and ,,First E&P, an independent player in the energy industry with a 40% stake in OMLs 83 and 85, which together provide a daily production of about 57,000 barrels.

The Honourable Minister commended the NCDMB for its role in building the capacity of local companies and manpower, which has led to the emergence of wholly Nigerian-owned indigenous companies like First E&P operating in the oil industry. He however admonished the oil producing community to seek alternative dispute resolution mechanisms to resolve their inter-community issues and access the considerable resources that remain unutilised due to numerous court cases.

The dinner was attended by top government functionaries , traditional rulers community and industry leaders.
