Police declare manhunt as Gunmen kidnap Rivers revenue board director
Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped a Director of the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue Service, RIRS, Sir Aribibia Fubara.
The victim was picked Saturday evening by gunmen, who reportedly came through Okirika waterfront on a speedboat to the Marine Base area of Port Harcourt.
It was gathered that the criminals were over six in number and that they arrived the area shooting sporadically into the air.
It was learned that the criminals, who had on arrival quickly identified their target whisked him into their boat and zoomed off to an unknown destination.
It was gathered that the victim is a Knight of Saint Christopher of the Anglican Communion, Church of Nigeria.
At press time, it was learned that the abductors have not established contact with family of the Fubara.
But, Mr. Emmanuel Fubara, younger brother to the victim, who confirmed the incident said the matter had been officially reported to the Police.
Meantime, the Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Grace Iringe-Koko, has confirmed the development.
Iringe-Koko said: “The command is aware of the incident and the Commissioner of Police has directed tactical units in the command to ensure that the victim is released unhurt. A manhunt has been launched to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to book.”
