A long standing fugitive of the law, identified as Hassan Adams, has reportedly been nabbed by the intelligence unit of the inspector General of police over links with the thriving underground homosexual ring within the country.
The police source revealed that Hassan was arrested in a hotel in Delta State (name withheld)through a tip off by surveillance mounted on him after months of searching for him in different states within the country.
He also revealed that arresting Hassan is a pointer to the fact that the police are getting closer to their main target who is on the police watch list and has been on the run lately.
Recall that it was reported some Months back that the crack team of the Inspector – General of police, was said to be on the trail of a suspected notorious gay male (names withheld) over serial attempts to secretly groom younger homosexuals and bisexuals in the country’s northern region.
Investigations revealed that the team was ordered to arrest the suspect who is also a member of the Nigerian LGBT community, but uses a fake Identity as a disguise.
Our correspondent also gathered that the suspect runs a criminal cell group in the country where gays, lesbians, bisexuals participate in challenges and are also sold to big sex companies abroad.
With reference to “Section 284″ of the Nigerian Penal Code, which is applicable to the Northern part of the country, it is imperative to note that same-sex unions are strictly prohibited in Nigeria. The Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act of 2014 criminalises the solemnisation, operation, and public display of same-sex romance or unions”
Recall that operatives of the Dape-Karimo divisional police station, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, earlier raised alarm over the search for a suspect now known for his acts of engaging in sexual intercourse with his men.
Sources within the division disclosed that the police are already closing in on his partner, whose name was given as Hassan Adams, a residence of Gwarinpa, Abuja.
We also gathered that the thirty seven Year old suspected homosexual, Onengiye Nwachukwu, who is currently at large, was said to have committed these crimes in different states in the country.
We learnt that he (Nwachukwu) escaped arrest in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, Asaba, Delta State, years back, when he and some other men and women suspected to be involved in this practice, went on to organise a mass same sex marriage ceremony.
The police have vowed to prosecute him and others when apprehended, in accordance with Nigeria’s anti gay laws, which prohibit same sex unions in the country, the leader of the police crack team was quoted.
