Purported APC defectors from Nembe are not our members—Dennis Otiotio
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress ( APC) in Bayelsa State , Barrister Dennis Otiotio- Odoni has debunked news making rounds that some members of the party defected to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
This coming on the heels of the defection of Comrade Ebinabo Jombo and his supporters in the Nembe Local Government Area of the state.
He made this position know through an electronic statement made available to Niger Delta Herald in Yenagoa, the state capital.
According to the APC chairman âMr. Ebinabo Jumbo has been a member of PDP in Mini ward 11 of Nembe LGA. He was the legislative aide to Hon Iniobio Obiene, who represented Nembe Constituency 3 from 2011 to 2019 under the PDP.
âDuring the 2019 General elections, Mr. Jumbo was appointed a PDP agent and functioned as such during the elections. Immediately after APC won the Governorshio elections, he approached the APC Mini ward chairman that he wanted to decamp to APC but jettisoned the idea once the supreme Court annulled APC’s victory.
âAll the other persons listed are hitherto unknown persons who are not members of APC. â
The decampees from Agrisaba in Nembe Local Government Area led by Comrade Ebinabo Jumbo, had explained that their decision to leave the APC for the PDP was largely informed by Governor Diri’s disposition towards the unity and development of the state.
Comrade Jumbo noted that in less than two years in office, the prosperity administration under Governor Diri had shown genuine commitment to good governance through its people-oriented policies, programmes and development projects in an unbiased manner.
Another reason for their defection to the PDP, according to Jumbo, is that it has become crystal clear to them that the APC has no direction and vision for Bayelsa.
