Simbi Wabote commissions TAG Energy Valve Assembly Centre in Port Harcourt
The Executive Secretary, NCDMB, Engr. Simbi Wabote (FNSE), has , commissioned TAG Energy Valve Assembly Centre in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The facility has an assembling/dismantling area, painting & sandblasting area, machine area, testing, lapping, storage & packing as well as a mobile containerized workshop.
In his keynote address, Engr. Simbi expressed delight as he is back in Port Harcourt for the second time in the space of one month to commission another facility in demonstration of the fact that Nigerian businesses are taking up the challenge to grow their outfits and contribute to the development of in-country capacities and capabilities.
Engr. Simbi highlighted that âWe currently have about 8,500 service companies registered in the NCDMB NOGIC-JQS portal, offering diverse services including Engineering, Fabrication, Procurement, Drilling services, Logistics, Exploration and Seismic services, Installation and Commissioning, Inspection and Testing, Project Management, Finance and Insurance, and many others as listed in the Schedule of NOGICD Act (2010).â
âWe are here today to celebrate the achievement of one of the resilient companies offering some of these services to the industry and is slowly and steadily making its mark in the provision of top-notch services to diverse clientele in the oil and gas industry.â He added.
He noted that âThis Centre is a one-stop shop for Valve supply and repair services, with a trained team of competent and resourceful engineers to carryout repairs and maintenance of valves on-site by reducing the off-site refurbishment. The wide range of valve supplies, repairs and maintenance services includes; Control Valve repairs, Ball, Gate, Global and Check Valves, Sleeved and Lined Plug Valves, High Performance Butterfly Valves and Pneumatic Actuators.â
Engr. Simbi emphasized that the TAG Centre has the ability to serve other sectors as the Board is keen to see that the capacities and capabilities being developed in the oil and gas sector are also linked to other sectors of the economy as part of the strategic initiatives under the NCDMBâs 10-Year Strategic Roadmap as well as to contribute to the Boardâs goal of achieving 70% Nigerian Content in the oil and gas industry.
The Board through its Nigerian Content Equipment Certificate (NCEC)which is one of its tools put in place to realize the 70% Nigerian Content by 2027;
- Encourages and drives the establishment and development of facilities and infrastructure for local manufacturing and related activities in collaboration with OEMs, investors and technical partners.
- Drive the growth of equipment and assets ownership by Nigerian companies.
- Encourage technology transfer and stimulate local innovation and technology development.
- Attract investments and maximize opportunities in the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry.
- Drive and ensure maximum patronage and utilization of locally produced goods and services, as well as equipment and assets owned by Nigerian companies.
