Sylva to deliver keynote address at GbaramatuVoice 7th Anniversary Lectures
The Gbaramatu Publishing Company Limited, owners and operators of the popular GbaramatuVoice Newspaper, has presented a letter of notification of conferment of Award to the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva as the 2022 Niger Delta Man/Minister of the Year.
The award letter was presented to the Minister Thursday, July 21 by the top management members, led by the Publisher/CEO, Jacob Abai at his office at the NNPC Towers, Abuja.
The Award will be conferred on the Minister at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja on Tuesday, August 30, 2022.
Speaking at the event, Abai explained that GbaramatuVoice’s decision was in recognition of his productive and beneficent interventions in ensuring the Petroleum Industry Act was assented to by His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari, an occurrence that has further positioned the NNPC as a commercialized public entity.
He further stated that Timipre Sylva, the former governor of Bayelsa State will also deliver the keynote address at the 7th Anniversary Lecture. He is expected to speak on the topic: “Oil politics, securing national assets, dependency, and diversification.”
In his acceptance speech, the elated Timipre Sylva endorsed both the forthcoming event (7th Anniversary) and GbaramatuVoice as an organization. He described GbaramatuVoice as a credible organization that every right-thinking man will always identify with. He specifically noted that the news organization has done well for the entire Ijaw nation.
In his words, “GbaramatuVoice has done well for the Ijaw nation and Nigeria as a whole, I will personally be there,” he said.
Also expected at the event are the Chief Executives of the states of the Niger Delta, honorable ministers from the region, critical non-state actors, oil companies and their chief executives, host communities’ managements, and the private sector.
As part of the highlights, the anniversary celebration will provide a platform for original discussions, systematic reviews of multi-sectoral initiatives as well as critical intervention strategies as they affect the Niger Delta.
GbaramatuVoice, established in 2015, has grown into a global multi-media organization with newspapers, websites, and apps serving millions of readers around the world as an important media in the Niger Delta. The newspaper shoulders an even more significant responsibility as it continues its quest to serve as a bridge between Niger Delta communities and the rest of the world.
