The Chairman of the Bayelsa State Directorate for Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Engr. Ebiye Tarabina, has commended contractors handling various government projects across the state for achieving significant milestones in line with contractual specifications.

Engr. Tarabina gave the commendation during a two-day inspection tour of ongoing project sites across the state, noting that most contractors were meeting agreed timelines and quality standards.

During an inspection of the Angiama–Oporoma Bridge, the chairman lauded the contractor for the successful launching of beams on both axes of the bridge, completion of sand filling on the Oporoma link road, and sand stabilization works at the 27+420 km and 28+460 km sections. He further observed steady progress in stone-base laying and culvert construction.

At the Akaba–Okodi Road project, Tarabina expressed satisfaction with the final levels of sand filling achieved, adding that about 90 percent of sand-cement works and 80 percent of stone-base laying had been completed.

Similarly, at the Imgbi Junction Bridge and the Glory Drive Phase 3 Link Road, he commended the contractor for achieving over 300 meters of sand stabilization from the junction and for completing clearing works along the route, leaving less than one kilometer to reach Imgbi in the sand-filling process.

Inspecting the Polaku–Sabagreia Bridge, Tarabina praised the contractor for the significant progress recorded, particularly the successful launching of the bridge beams.

While acknowledging the achievements of the contractors, he urged them to further accelerate their pace of work as the dry season approaches, emphasizing the strategic importance of the projects to the socio-economic development of Bayelsa State.

Accompanying the inspection team, the Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Bayelsa State Chapter, Engr. Jokori Eluanatein, commended Governor Senator Douye Diri for his unwavering commitment to infrastructure development. He noted that upon completion, the projects would enhance economic growth, improve connectivity, and reduce crime across the state.

Responding, Engr. Robert, the contractor handling the Polaku–Sabagreia Bridge, expressed appreciation to Governor Diri for entrusting his company with major developmental projects, assuring that the projects would be delivered within schedule and in line with specifications.

The inspection team also included the Secretary of the Directorate, members of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Bayelsa State Chapter, and other senior government officials.
