President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recorded a landslide victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election held in Bayelsa State, polling an overwhelming 277,192 votes to defeat his challenger, Stanley Osifo, who secured only five votes.

The exercise, which was conducted across the state under tight security and close monitoring by party officials and observers, showcased the strong dominance and acceptance of President Tinubu within the APC structure in Bayelsa State ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Party faithful trooped out in large numbers across the eight local government areas of the state to participate in the direct primary exercise.

The process was generally described by stakeholders as peaceful, orderly, and transparent, with electoral officials arriving early at designated centres to commence accreditation and voting.

The outcome further reaffirmed the President’s firm grip on the ruling party nationwide, despite political realignments and opposition activities in parts of the country. Tinubu’s massive victory margin in Bayelsa is being interpreted by political observers as a clear endorsement of his administration by APC members in the oil-rich Niger Delta state.

Reacting to the outcome, several APC leaders and stakeholders in Bayelsa commended party members for their unity, discipline, and commitment throughout the exercise. They noted that the peaceful conduct of the primary reflected the maturity of the party and its readiness for the 2027 general elections.

Supporters of the President celebrated the result across parts of Yenagoa and other local government areas, describing the victory as a vote of confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and policies. Many party members expressed optimism that the President would continue with ongoing economic reforms, infrastructural development, and efforts aimed at stabilizing the nation’s economy.

Political analysts also noted that the result may strengthen the APC’s efforts to rebuild and consolidate its structure in Bayelsa State, where the party has continued to position itself as a formidable opposition force despite the dominance of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state’s political landscape. facebook.com +1
