Yenagoa – The WAD Progressive Grassroots Vanguard has condemned the recent press statement by the Ekelga Movement for Political Fairness regarding the 2027 Bayelsa West National Assembly elections, calling it divisive and misleading.

In a statement signed by its patron, Hon. Wilson Ayakpo Dauyegha, the group accused the Ekelga Movement of attempting to incite tension between the Sagbama and Ekeremor communities.

“The statement was issued in bad faith and is aimed at disrupting the unity that has long existed in Bayelsa West,” the group said, urging citizens to prioritize competence and integrity over zoning.

The group strongly backed Senator Henry Seriake Dickson for re-election, praising his contributions to education, national development, and infrastructure, particularly the Sagbama-Ekeremor Road.

“Senator Dickson remains the most impactful and transparent leader our district has produced. He deserves another term in 2027,” the statement added.

The Vanguard also called on Governor Douye Diri to sanction political appointees and academic staff involved in the Ekelga Movement, stating that public servants interested in politics should resign from their current roles.

The statement concludes with a call for unity, urging Bayelsa West residents to dismiss divisive rhetoric and support capable leadership.
