The Labour Party Governor candidate for the Bayelsa State November 11 Governorship Election, Engr. Udengs Eradiri said the quest to be governor of Bayelsa State is to give purposeful ,responsible and responsive leadership to the people.

Udengs who stated this while briefing newsmen in Yenagoa noted that he is best candidate to occupy Creak Haven given his experience that transverse both the public and private sectors.

He further stated that Bayelsans have no business with poverty considering that governments over the years have received trillions of Naira, insisting that the poverty and neglect the people are presently going through is self inflicted.

He bemoaned the sorry state of Bayelsa economy because of lack of competent leadership leading to businesses closing down, insecurity and loss of internally generated revenue, adding that he is poised to revive the state economy through investing in areas where the state have comparative advantage especially the blue economy.

He unveiled his PEAP development agenda anchored on the People, Education, Agriculture and Power, stressing that the people will be the cornerstone of his development agenda based on a social contract with the people through participatory governance.

Udengs explained that he will stimulate the economy through the creation of wealth and employment to our unemployed youths by investing massively in agricultural in crops like sugar plantation, revive the moribund Bayelsa palm and encourage rice production in Otuokpoti community which previous governments have invested huge funds without yielding the desired result.

The Ekpetiama-born politician emphasized that the state is lagging behind because the people are disconnected from governance as a result of leadership failure on those in the saddle of governance.

On the area of power, the Labour Party Governorship candidate proposed to built 22 Megawatts of electricity to supply power and dedicate 11 Megawatts to power the industrial areas for companies to do business.

” The reason why I have decided to participate in this process is because I have seen the nakedness of neglect of politicians and politics and leaders to the governs and having gone through the process of learning exposing myself politically and otherwise I think I matured enough to take leadership of my state.

” Having gone through the exposure I have been through, I have decided to participate in this process so that I can give direction to Bayelsa State. The state is going through a lot and all our problem is saddle on the shoulder of leadership. We lack competent leadership. If you compare Bayelsa State with other states, you will discover that Bayelsa is backward in every indices.

* So I have come up with a precise agenda to deal with the issues that bedevil our state. I call it the PEAP agenda. The first P is the people, I believe if we can reenergize the people we can get them on track and so working with the people running a participatory leadership. No government will succeed without the contribution of the people. And so the most priority in our government is the people.

” The next E is education, we plan to upgrade the educational facilities and train, and boost the morale of our teachers. A is agriculture. It is through agriculture we can stimulate the economy in the state, and the last P is power, we are going to buy 22 Megawatts and set aside 11 Megawatts to be dedicated to the a special areas the industrial area for companies to be established.

” We have been hearing all kinds of rumours, Udengs is a place holder for someone. Am a place holder and am on the ballot. I don’t know why people will listen to all kinds of rumours. So if the PDP supporters think their Principal bought form for me let them vote for me as a Labour Party candidate. So I am fully on the ballot to contest and win the November 11 Governorship Election,” Udengs stated.
