*Your close aides and relatives are clueless about political benefaction.* Group urges Diri.
- Most of them are pro-personal ambition and interest
– dont allow them cause division between you and your benefactor and supporters.
A social political group has offered a word of advice to the governor of Bayelsa State, H. E. Sen. Douye Diri to strive to maintain the cordial relationship and the synergy between himself, the former governor, H.E. Senator Henry Seriake Dickson and other leaders in the state.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Chief Benakepre Jaja stated that the Bayelsa governor is truly fortunate to have the kind of successor he has who will always stand to defend him when the occasion arises especially at such times in our polity where there are ‘emperors’ who insist on remaining in power even after vacating office as examplified by a neighboring state.
Chief Jaja urged Gov. Diri never to forget that the appellation ‘Miracle Governor” is only possible because men like his predecessor and others fought hard to make it happen, first in 2020 and again in the just concluded re-election exercise. He acknowledged that to God almighty alone belongs all power and miracles come from him but they are never self-actualizing.
The group urged the governor of Bayelsa state to always acknowledge his benefactor and supporters and at the same time put his close aides and relatives where they belong as most are only busy paving the way for their personal ambitions.
Chief Jaja also mentioned that most political aides if left unchecked, are usually responsible for the downfall of their principals especially when a transition is in view and would go any length to promote their hidden agenda including stoking the flames of discord between their principal, his benefactor and other supporters, an experience he believes Douye Diri is already familiar with.
The group urged the governor to be weary of excessive praises and applauds especially from his close aides and relatives which is usually a guise and a deliberate attempt to puff him up and cause him to unknowingly undermine the efforts and sacrifices of others of which they themselves are beneficiaries.
The group however commended governor Diri for so far displaying a heart of gratitude publicly and urged him to always seek support and fatherly counsel from his benefactor and other leaders and supporters.
In his words, “Many times, it is the aides and relatives, who claim ownership of a government they never labored for and would always cause problems amongst leaders. Therefore I urge the governor to be vigilant and refuse to bow to the temptation of undermining his benefactor and supporters”.
“The people of Bayelsa appreciate the cordial relationship between governor Diri and his predecessor cum benefactor, Sen. Dickson and believe strongly that this is what is responsible for the peace and progress the state is currently enjoying unlike what is currently obtained in a neighboring state.
The group commended the former governor for his brand of politics and leadership. A politics of tolerance, respect for authority and support for all.
The group also stated that the Ijaw nation can only move forward when leaders are supported and not blackmailed, undermined and unappreciated for their efforts.
