Tricycles Operators  under the aegis of Bayelsa Indigenous Tricycle Riders Association ( BITRA ) took to  the Ekeki motor park ,  Yenagoa to protest against plans to  stop them from selling their daily tickets like other tricycle operators in the state.

The Chairman of BITRA , Comrade Okoli Afori who spoke through the PRO of BITRA, Comrade Thomas Kroseide told journalists contrary to misinformation, its association which is legitimately registered  with CAC by Bayelsa Youths  from the eight local government areas who are Tricycle riders as an umbrella body with a view to empowering  themselves and to defend undue monopolist by the non – indigenes and incessant  extortions on the roads , create employment and reduce  crimes and criminality in the state.

He further said” prior to BITRA registration  with the Corporate Affairs Commission, we have suffered exploitation from the police, road safety corps and other law enforcement agencies over frivolous offences”

The chairman, therefore called on the state governor , Senator Douye Diri to call to order public officers operating in a clandestine manner to frustrate them from their noble objectives.

“All the times, they call Bayelsans youths as lazy and we don’t want the non – indigenes  to dominate the tricycle operations and our members also contribute to the state internally generated revenue” The Chairman said their certificate from the CAC is available for anybody to see.
