The hard bites of the fuel subsidy removal has continued to spur the Bayelsa state government to reach out to the masses to cushion its negative effects .
Besides the over hundred commercial cars and buses recently acquired by the governor Douye Diri – led goverment to boost the transport sector , another measure to reach the downthroden has been put in place.
Known as the ” Fuel Paliatives for Commercial Keke owners” , is aimed at assisting the commercial Keke owners with free fuel in some designated fuel stations in Yenagoa .
Over 200 Commercial Keke riders benefited from the programme which was anchored through the office of the Senior Special Assistant ( SSA) to the governor on “Connected Economy”, Hon. Emeleakpo Yeri , which took place on Tuesday.
Explaining the importance of the programme , Hon. Yeri said the fuel Paliatives for Commercial Keke riders was a vision of the Senator Douye Diri -led administrarion to boost the businesses of Keke riders in the state .
The free fuel will help them move their businesses to the next level .
She said the vision of the Sensor Diri – led prosperity administration is to empower youths who are creative to boost the state’s economy .
” This is a vision of the Diri-led prosperity administration to boost the local economy of the state
” The governor is in need of dreamers who can actualise their vision
‘The prosperity adminitration is ready to support those ready to contribute to the economy of the state in various ways”, she noted and stressed “that is where the connected economy is”.
She explained that the connected economy is in need of dreamers who are creative and to be empowered .
The main focus of her office, she added , is to develop entrepreneurs .
Hon. Yeri advised youths in the state to avail themselves of the opportunity to develop themselves to be part of the connected economy .
“We are ready to ensure that youths are empowered in various areas of the economy
” The beauty about the connected economy is that , be creative by thinking of what to do and take a step by working towards achieving it” she added .
She further explained that the free fuel given to the commercial Keke riders will help boost their businesses.
” The fuel given them will improve their businesses and take them to the next level of empowerment
” Let’s come together and fill the space of the connected economy , this is the vision of senator Douye Diri ” she said .
A beneficiary , Mr. Collins Oweila who expressed gratitude for the gesture says the free fuel will help boost his gains at the end of the day’s business
