Bayelsa youths to hold election next year January

Comrade Atti Joshua Moses, interim President of the Bayelsa Youth Association, has revealed plans by the association to hold election next year January to usher in a new leadership.
Addressing the press in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Comrade Moses highlighted key issues affecting the state and nation, adding that the association is currently undergoing a transition period, with an electoral committee formed to oversee the process.
According to him, the election scheduled for January 31st, 2025, will be preceded by the sale of forms, security screening, and other necessary procedures and emphasized the importance of transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
During the press conference, Comrade Moses commended the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Alfred Kemepade, for his youth-oriented initiatives.
He also praised Governor Douye Diri for his youth inclusive governance, noting that thousands of youths have been appointed to the ASSURED Prosperity Government.
While the governor’s efforts to restore power to Bayelsa State, which has been in darkness for over four months, were also acknowledged, Comrade Moses encouraged interventionist agencies to support the government’s efforts to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Additionally, Comrade Moses commended the Managing Director of the NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, for installing solar street lights in communities across Bayelsa State and providing contracts to young persons in the state.
The Bayelsa Youth Association reiterated its commitment to projecting the ideologies of youths and contributing to societal and youth development.
” As an electoral committee, the association pledged to organize a free, credible, fair, and transparent election, ensuring that nobody is disenfranchised.”
The Interim President noted that the electoral guidelines require presidential candidates to hold a Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma and be between 18 and 35 years old.
Comrade Moses emphasized that the process of picking delegates would be transparent, and aspiring candidates should prioritize serving and contributing to the development of youths, Bayelsa State, and the nation at large.
