The leaders and representatives of ethnic nationalities, critical stakeholders, and members of professional bodies across the Niger Delta have expressed their gratitude to President Tinubu and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Board for the sustained peace in the region.

Prof. Ben Okaba and Sen. Emmanuel Ibok Essien in a joint statement, commended President Tinubu’s “visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the sustainable development of the Niger Delta,” highlighting the positive impact on the NDDC. They noted the President’s focus on empowering the region’s people through skill acquisition, educational support, and entrepreneurial development initiatives channelled through the NDDC. The statement emphasized that these initiatives have not only transformed lives but also restored confidence in the Commission’s activities.

The stakeholders also acknowledged the “proactive oversight and legislative support” from the National Assembly, which they believe has ensured that the unique needs of the region remain a priority in developmental initiatives. They further appealed for the release of all outstanding funds due to the NDDC to further boost its operations.

The leaders praised the synergy between the current NDDC Board and Management, recognizing their renewed focus on addressing the core developmental challenges facing Niger Delta communities. They commended the Commission’s strategic initiatives, which prioritize essential infrastructure development alongside the empowerment of the people through skill acquisition, educational support, and entrepreneurial assistance. The statement specifically acknowledged the NDDC’s efforts in driving sustainable development, fostering transparency, and implementing impactful projects across the region.

The stakeholders applauded the NDDC Board and Management for their proactive engagement with key stakeholders and the establishment of robust frameworks to ensure accountability and inclusivity. These measures, they asserted, have significantly restored public trust and enhanced the Commission’s credibility.

Expressing their belief in the current leadership’s capacity to chart a transformative course for the region, the group pledged their full support and partnership in advancing the shared vision of sustainable growth and peace in the Niger Delta. They called on all stakeholders, governmental agencies, and the general public to continue supporting the NDDC leadership as they work to realize the aspirations of the people.

The statement concluded with a call for continued collaboration between the NDDC, the Federal Government, and all other partners including the general public to build upon the foundation of progress and achieve a Niger Delta that epitomizes peace, growth, and prosperity for all.
