South-South Governors Forum Backs APC First-Term Governors Ahead of Primaries

The South-South Governors Forum (SSGF) has declared its solidarity with first-term governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the party’s governorship primaries scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2026.

In a statement issued by the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, the forum commended the governors for what it described as visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the development of their respective states.

The forum noted that the APC governors had distinguished themselves as champions of grassroots development and economic growth through impactful governance and people-oriented policies.

According to the statement, the governors have recorded remarkable achievements in critical sectors including infrastructure, healthcare, education, and social welfare, leading to tangible transformation in their states.

The SSGF further expressed confidence that granting the governors a second term mandate would result in greater infrastructural development and economic prosperity, not only for their states but for Nigeria as a whole.

The forum also wished the governors success in the forthcoming primaries, expressing optimism that democratic ideals would prevail during the exercise.

“On behalf of the South-South Governors Forum, I extend best wishes for a peaceful and successful governorship primaries. We are certain that democratic ideals will triumph and their exceptional service will be rightfully rewarded by the APC faithful,” the statement added.

The statement was signed by Governor Douye Diri in his capacity as Chairman of the South-South Governors Forum.
