Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has mourned the death of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Vice Chairman (South South), Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, describing him as a true friend and committed political ally.
Orbih died on Monday, August 31, 2026.
In a condolence message issued on Tuesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike described the death of the veteran politician as painful and a major loss to Edo State.
Wike said Orbih was “a friend indeed,” describing his death as the “fall of one of the biggest trees in the political forest of Edo State.”
The minister said Orbih would be greatly missed by his family, political associates and those who knew him.
“I have lost a friend and a committed political ally. Dan Osi Orbih was everything anyone could desire in friendship and political associate.
“But we can’t question God. He gives and He takes,” Wike said.
The FCT minister commiserated with the Orbih family, particularly the deceased’s wife, Mrs Florence Orbih, his children, Miss Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr Mildred Omonemi Orbih, as well as his siblings and other members of the extended family.
“On behalf of myself, my family and political associates, I commiserate with the family of Chief M.C.K. Orbih, on the demise of Chief Dan Orbih, a good friend, a great politician, and a man of faith in the Almighty God.
“May his soul rest in peace,” he added.
