The Special Adviser to Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri on Political Matters, Hon. Collins Cocodia, has called for stronger mobilisation of grassroots supporters to boost the chances of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Cocodia made the call when the State and Local Government Area executives of the Business Women of Influence for Renewed Hope Agenda (BWI-RHA) paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Yenagoa.
He commended the association for its efforts in training and retraining women across the country, describing the initiative as an investment capable of outliving its members’ political careers.
The Special Adviser also highlighted the important role of women as resourceful managers and dependable partners in political mobilisation and community development.
Cocodia praised the leadership of the BWI-RHA State Coordinator, Comrade Peace Fekumo Sinclair, for mobilising more than 5,000 women into the association in
Bayelsa State.
He welcomed the group’s commitment to supporting the APC in the forthcoming elections and pledged his assistance towards achieving its objectives in the state.
Earlier, Sinclair said the visit was aimed at formally introducing BWI-RHA to the Special Adviser and briefing him on its objectives, programmes and policies.
She disclosed that the association had commenced an “Operation Show Your PVC” campaign to sensitise women on the importance of obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the 2027 elections.
The coordinator also appealed for the inclusion of BWI-RHA in the political structure of the state as one of the leading women-focused support groups, pledging the association’s loyalty and full support for the APC.
She further sought Cocodia’s “fatherly blessings” for the association.
The high point of the visit was the decoration of Cocodia as the patron of BWI-RHA and his approval of vocational training opportunities for deserving members of the association across the eight Local Government Areas of the state.
