Companies, industries should not operate without safety officers
The national president institute of safety professional of Nigeria, Engr. Timothy Iwuagwu said no government organization, companies, industries that would operate without safety officers who are professionally trained to safe live and risk where necessary protecting properties as professionals.
The president, Engr. Timothy Iwuagwu made this known in an interview with journalists at the 12th anniversary celebration and professional membership’s induction for both individual and corporate members in Uyo.
The president said they should not patronize non safety officers understanding the body as renew their collective commitment to building a Nigeria where safety is valued as a fundamental component of Nation building and national development.
According to him, they continue to promote a culture as which every life matters, every risk deserves attention and every organization recognize that safety is an investment rather than a cost.
The state coordinator, Akwa Ibom branch, MR. Ita Benson said they should operate under the safety law of Nigeria not to accommodate non safety officers to tarnish the profession image which we don’t entertain over the passion we have for our profession.
He commended member for their massive turn out and continue keep the flag flying show casing the passion they have for their profession no matter the circumstances came contribute development of our profession.
The special assistant to the Governor on Ibom Deep Seaport, PROF. (ENGR) Akaninyene Ekong, said when the deep sea ports project would start only professional safety officers, would be employed to supervise workers and educate them understand issues of safety at work not to experience any casualty at work acknowledging safety first.
He said the Ibom Deep Seaport project is a dream come true understanding such ports is of international standards that would accommodate any goods, containers e.t.c, and would provide job opportunities to Nigerians youth as government would do their best without relenting on Ibom Deep Seaport project for dream come true despite the up hill task would succeeds
