The registrar/ CEO NMCN,NR. Ndagi Alhassan alleged that Nigeria has lost 64,000 Nurses towards JAPA syndrome from the country looking for greener pasture which is unfortunate in our health sector.
The registrar, NR.NDAGI ALHASSAN made this known at the 26th scientific conference/ annual general meeting of the body of heads of Nursing Services Department and Principal of schools in Federal Health Institution in Uyo.
The registrar said they Japa best known to their understanding but believe the government would settle the issues for their benefits despite they have passion for their jobs as professional.
According to him, Nigeria has qualified Nurses that can compete with their counterpart across the globe and are tremendously doing well where ever they found themselves as successful professionals.
The occasion Chairman, Rt Hon (elder) Friday Iwuk said despite the JAPA syndrome we must raise nursing leader who would influence policy, drive reforms and take their rightful place at decision making tables while understanding transformation will not happen by chance. If will take deliberate investment, collaboration and courage from all of us.
He said we must advance clinical practice, embrace evidence base care and expand the role of nurses across all levels of healthcare while equip our nurses with modern skill, technology and research capacity to meet globe standards.
The National president, the body of Heads of Nursing Services Department and Principal of schools in Federal Health Institution, DR (MRS) Jenny Church Akpan commended them for their massive turn out because of the passion they have for their profession should continue to keep the flag flying believe the conference would upgrade them and closed those lapses necessary for better nursing profession.
