A Group, the National Alliance for Strategy and Good Governance (NASGG) has raised an alert over the alleged last minute multi-billion naira fraudulent payments and award of jobs by Political appointees in ministries, parastatals and agencies, including the Presidential Amnesty Office.

The NASGG however called on President Muhammadu Buhari to issue an order for heads of ministries, parastatals, agencies including intervention agencies such as the Presidential Amnesty office to halt desperate and last minute payments and award of jobs perceived as fraudulent.

The Group, through the National Coordinator, Alhaji Shehu Abdullah, in a statement issued via electronic mail, stated that “some agencies of government, particularly the Interim Administrator at the Presidential Amnesty office are boasting and claiming that their tenure extends beyond President Buhari’s time in office, and that they have the powers to dish out jobs and make billions of naira in payments to their associates and cronies, even within a few days to the tenure expiration of the Buhari’s administration.”

Abdullah, who claimed to have been keeping tabs on the activities of sensitive agencies and ministries, urged President Buhari not to allow few political appointees to plunge the final days of his administration into confusion by awarding frivolous jobs and syphoning billions of naira into their private pockets.

Abdullah urged President Buhari to save the country from these last minute looting, and as a matter of urgency, publicly announce the dissolution of all political appointees, including heads of agencies, parastatals and the Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP). He said, the President should direct these political appointees to immediately hand over to the most senior civil servant director in their respective agencies.
