Family reels out Events For The Funeral Rites Of Chief Christian Atani Okpofaa Otobotekere, Okun Xix ( Amananaowei Of Tombia Town
The funeral activities for the final burial rites of Late Chief Christian ATANI OKPOFAA OTOBOTEKERE, OKUN XIX, AMANANAOWEI OF TOMBIA TOWN in Ekpetiama Kingdom, Yenagoa Local Government Area who died at the age of 98 years has commenced with a medical outreach on Saturday 17th June, 2023.
Addressing a World Press Conference at the Tombia Palace, Engr. Ayabowei OKPOFAA, (Chief Mourner), Hon. Ibarakumo Otobotekere ( Who spoke on behalf of the Family)and Chief Akoko Ayibatoinpre Thomas who spoke on behalf of the Tombia Council of Chiefs hinted that the one week long activities is geared towards honouring the departed AMANANAOWEI of Tombia.
According to the speakers, the funeral will feature Canoe race, cross country by youths, traditional dance, wake keep on Monday 19th June, 2023.
The speakers noted that on Tuesday 20th June, 2023 there will be charity visit to the elderly in the community, followed by community service activities in Tombia, Golf tournament at the Bayelsa State golf course in Yenagoa, Wrestling competition, Symposium, football match on Wednesday 21st June, 2023.
Engr. OKPOFAA,Hon. Otobotekere and Chief Akoko in their separate speeches said Thursday, 22nd June, 2023 will feature a documentary on the 97th birthday anniversary celebration of the deceased, story telling, Tributes and Arts exhibition.
They revealed that the remains of Late Chief Christian ATANI OKPOFAA OTOBOTEKERE will arrive from Abuja to the Bayelsa International Airport in a motorcade by 8:30am on Friday 23rd June,2023 and stop briefly at the Okpotolomo family compound and then proceed to be received by the Tombia Council of Chiefs.
The family and Chiefs council also hinted that his remains will be buried on Saturday 24th June, 2023 at the Chief Otobotekere’s palace in Tombia, followed by entertainment of guests by the Bayelsa State cultural troupe.
The speakers say the program will be brought to a close with a Thanksgiving service at the Our Saviour Anglican Church, Tombia as they call on members of the general public to join the otobotekere family and the entire Tombia Council of Chiefs to pay final respect to the departed Paramount Ruler, Chief Christian ATANI OKPOFAA OTOBOTEKERE, the Okun XIX of Tombia Town.
