Former Rector of the Bayelsa State International Institute for Tourism and Hospital (IITH), Dr. Timi Johnson has expressed his appreciation to the state Governor, Senator Douye Diri for appointing him as Technical Assistant on Food Safety and Hygiene.
Johnson in a press statement made available to newsmen in Yenagoa noted that his new appointment would continue to spur him in showing expertise and professionalism in his chosen career as an expert in the tourism and hospitality industry.
A statement from the new appointee read in parts: “We give God all the glory for my appointment as the Technical Assistant to the Prosperity Government ably led by the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri and his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo on Food Safety and Hygiene.
“With over forty years in the Hospitality Sector, I hope to showcase my expertise and professionalism in my new appointment sequel to the announcement of the state of emergency on Food Security in the country by the Federal Government.
“The Prosperity Administration is the only one in the country that has created a ‘Food Safety and Hygiene’ office to address the food supply chain from the farm to the table that is free of contaminations and foodborne illnesses to its people, and by extension to our country Nigeria”.
Niger Delta Herald gathered that Dr Johnson is a certified ‘ServeSafe Instructor’ and Registered ‘ServeSafe Examination Proctor’ of the National Restaurant Association of America(NRA).
Johnson in his statement also added that: “As an international Food Safety Manager under both Conference for Food Protection Standards and ISO/IEC 17024 Standards, I’ve served three former Presidents of the United States.
“They’re Presidents, Bill Clinton, George W Bush Jr, and Donald Trump. I’ve also served five Governors, which include, Christine Todd Whitman, the only female Governor of New Jersey, Jim McGreevey, Jon Corzine, Chis Christy, Andrew Cuomo and Mike Bloomberg both of New York City.
“I’ve also served numerous Mayors of the United States of America. A First Responder of the Worst Terrorists Attack on the Twin Towers of the United States of America on September 11th, 2001 at Ground Zero in New York City.
“Until my appointment, I was the Chief Executive of a firm specializing in food safety and hygiene known as Gourmet 2 Your DoorSteps Services Ltd which recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with both The Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) and The Environmental Health Council of Nigeria (EHCON), respectively to train Environmental Health Officers (EHOs) nationally, on Food Safety and Hygiene and reduce the effect of foodborne illnesses in the country.
He noted that currently, EHCON in collaboration with Gourmet 2 Your Doorsteps Services (ltd) is poised to train Environmental Health Officers(EHOs) all over the country on food safety/audit and hygiene.
He said: “The training which is right now being held in Port Harcourt for Environmental Health Officers (EHOs) in the South-South and South-East would move to other zones of the country soon.
“The training is a wonderful development that is sure to enlighten Environmental Health Officers (EHOs). It would also be a time for the participants to network amongst themselves and share ideas”.
