Again, Opu-Nembe Community alleges fresh attack by men in Police uniform
The leadership of Opu-Nembe, in Nembe local government area of Bayelsa state has again raised alarm over an attack on the kingdom by persons on Police uniform.
The chairman, Opu-Nembe council of Chief’s, Chief( Barrister ) Ezekiel Samuel Teigbenyo-Ikoli and Secretary, Chief Johnbull Efere, in a Statement on Saturday night alleged that despite repeated plea by the leadership of the community for peaceful coexistence, the former minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Slyva and Mr Kojo Sam in connivance with others have attacked Opu-Nembe again for the fourth time with men on police uniform.
According to the statement, women were raped and so the Youths, women and the chiefs of the community resisted the attack but some persons sustained different degree of injuries while they run for safety.
The duo again, called on the federal government, the Bayelsa state governor Senator Douye Diri, the inspector General of Police, Egbetokun Olukayode, and the various security agencies to investigation and arrest those behind the incessant attack on the kingdom.
They emphasized that the community was peaceful until the deployment of the unknown Policemen, adding that the safety and well-being of the Opu-Nembe community should be of paramount importance, and swift government intervention is crucial to ensure their protection.
They equally advised the law abiding people of Opu-Nembe kingdom and its environ to be law abiding and vigilant despite the unprovoked attacks as the leadership of the community is working around the clock for the the safety of the community.
