Bayelsa Guber Poll: Group faults alleged plan by Diri to reel out substandard projects to score cheap point
A socio political group the Izon Integrity Forum, IIF, has condemned the alleged Governor Douye Diri Government on its planned execution of injury-time projects across the state.
The group, in a statement through its Chairman Hon. Esueya Clarkson wondered why it took Gov Diri almost four years and uncomfortably close to election to reel out such purported projects.
According to the group the said projects include classroom blocks, 1km road, solar lights et cetra.
The group questioned the spirit of the projects and it’s timing noting that the ‘the idea is to cook up, hurry these projects before election to score cheap points. “But we all know that no professional, A-rate job can be done in such a short while. It’s all a sleazy way to siphon monies and deceive the unsuspecting public, but Bayelsans are wiser”
The group further averred that “Diri has no legacy project to his name, if he is serious about getting the people on his side he must start real, genuine projects. Not these white-elephant, sub-standard emergency jobs any councillor can embark on”.
‘We reject this looming wastage in totality and as a group we demand that this move be halted until after elections, Bayelsa state cannot afford to bear further wastages’
‘If Douye Diri continues despite warnings from us and other stakeholders, we will seek both legal interpretation and state-wide demonstrations’
The Izon Integrity Forum also advised Bayelsans against stooping to poorly designed, ill intentioned, strategically deficient and hurriedly made expressions the government may call projects.
