The Bayelsa State Police Command has received a fresh batch of newly commissioned Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) deployed to the Command from the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, following their successful passing out.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Musa Mohammed, the Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, CP Iyamah Daniel Edebor, psc, ICFIP, foosi, confirmed that the officers were formally received at the Command Headquarters, Yenagoa, on January 6, 2026.

Addressing the officers, CP Iyamah congratulated them on the successful completion of their training and their formal induction into active police service. He stressed the importance of professionalism, discipline, integrity, and unwavering commitment to duty, reminding them that they are ambassadors of the Nigeria Police Force wherever they are posted.

The Commissioner charged the newly posted ASPs to uphold the core values of the Force, including respect for human rights, adherence to the rule of law, accountability, fairness, and dedicated service to the people, in line with the vision and mission of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM. He noted that their conduct, both on and off duty, must consistently reflect positively on the Force.

CP Iyamah further reiterated the constitutional responsibilities of police officers, which include crime prevention and detection, maintenance of law and order, and the protection of lives and property across Bayelsa State. He urged the officers to remain people-friendly and to work closely with host communities, other security agencies, and relevant stakeholders to strengthen community policing and build public trust.

He also underscored the importance of safeguarding the rights of women, children, and other vulnerable groups, encouraging the officers to take proactive measures in addressing cases of gender-based violence, child abuse, human trafficking, and related offences, in accordance with extant laws.
