The 2025 Annual Branch Conference of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), held in Uyo, has been described as a platform to challenge outdated paradigms, spark new ideas, and equip Human Resource (HR) professionals with the knowledge required to lead in a rapidly changing world.

The President and Chairman of the Governing Council of CIPM, Malam Ahmed Ladan Gobir, FCIPM, fnli, made this known during the conference themed “Navigating New Frontiers of HR.”

Gobir emphasized that despite the uphill tasks faced by professionals, they must not relent in their pursuit of excellence and must continue to uphold integrity in their practice. He highlighted the importance of data analytics, digital transformation, and inclusive, resilient, and future-ready workplaces in achieving sustainable HR development.

“We must move beyond traditional HR practices and embrace a future where HR is a strategic partner, a driver of innovation, and a custodian of workplace transformation,” he said.
“Let us network, share ideas, challenge the status quo, and embrace the mindset of continuous learning. The HR leaders of tomorrow are those willing to adapt, innovate, and lead today.”

The Akwa Ibom State Branch Chairman, Dr. (Mrs.) Rosalyn Essien, MCIPM, emphasized the pivotal role of CIPM in fostering excellence and innovation in Human Resource Management across Nigeria. She expressed confidence that the conference would provide invaluable insights, particularly regarding HR practices in the public sector.

She noted that both the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and the Akwa Ibom State Government have adopted the professionalization of HR management in the public sector, in line with CIPM’s mandate to remain Nigeria’s foremost people management institute.

“With these clear objectives,” she said, “the branch is committed to supporting its members in maintaining their distinctive edge as HR professionals, offering practical solutions to evolving business challenges.”

Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr. Francis Etim, MCIPM, stated that the role of workers is changing globally. He stressed the need for professionals to be proactive and align with modern standards. He also commended members for their massive turnout and the enthusiasm shown toward advancing their profession.
