Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has strongly denied any links to militant groups, warning against the spread of fake social media reports aimed at destabilizing the state.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, the governor condemned a series of malicious and misleading videos alleging explosions at oil and gas facilities in Rivers State. According to the statement, these videos were falsely linked to supposed militant activities, with attempts to associate them with Fubara’s supporters.

“The communities where these incidents are alleged to have occurred have reacted, dismissing any claims of explosions on oil and gas facilities in their domains. They have also reassured that all critical government assets within their areas are safe, secure, and efficiently functioning,” the statement read.

Governor Fubara reiterated that he has no affiliations with any militant group and would never support activities that threaten peace, security, or the state’s economic interests. He emphasized that his administration is committed to maintaining stability, as governance and development can only thrive in a peaceful environment.

Furthermore, the governor issued a stern warning to those spreading falsehoods online, cautioning bloggers and social media influencers against creating unnecessary panic and disorder. He called on security agencies to investigate and bring to justice individuals responsible for circulating misleading content.

“Security agencies should take note of these fake videos designed to misinform the people and further paint the state in a bad light. They should take every necessary step to contain them and bring those behind them to book,” the statement concluded.

The governor assured residents of Rivers State that his government remains dedicated to ensuring their safety and fostering a stable environment for economic and social development.
