Yenagoa, Bayelsa State – In a move to preserve and consolidate the peaceful atmosphere currently enjoyed in Bayelsa State under the leadership of His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, the Izon Keme-Ama Assembly has announced the postponement of its planned rally, originally scheduled for Saturday, April 12, 2025.

The rally, themed “Assured Prosperity Rally in Appreciation of the Governor’s Massive and Unprecedented Infrastructural Developmental Strides,” was set to celebrate the achievements of Governor Diri, popularly referred to as the “Miracle Governor.” However, the organizers cited security concerns due to the activities of “unscrupulous elements and their paid agents” intent on destabilizing the state.

In a statement signed by the Convener, Tony Nathan Ile, and Secretary, Elliot Azibamuzoghodium Esq., the Assembly emphasized that the decision to postpone the rally was taken in the interest of the peace and stability of Bayelsa State. A new date, according to the group, will be communicated in due course.

The group also used the opportunity to extend warm congratulations to Governor Douye Diri on his recent recognition as Vanguard Newspaper’s Personality of the Year 2024 for Good Governance.

“This glamorous award further vindicates our earlier decision to honour and appreciate Your Excellency for your transformative and people-oriented leadership,” the statement read. “Members of this revered organization, which cuts across the entire Izon ethnic nationality, remain proud of your achievements and unwavering commitment to development.”

The Izon Keme-Ama Assembly reaffirmed its support for the governor’s administration and pledged continued collaboration in promoting peace, unity, and development across Bayelsa State.
