NCDMB PICTORIAL: One-Day enlightenment workshop for contractors, Youths and members of host communities in Akwa Ibom

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) held a one-day enlightenment workshop on Thursday, 23rd March 2023, for contractors, youths, and members of host communities in Akwa Ibom State on the NCDMB’s Community Content Guidelines (CCG).

The Executive Secretary, NCDMB, Engr. Simbi Kesiye Wabote (FNSE, FIPS), represented by the General Manager, Corporate Communication & Zonal Coordination, Dr. Ginah O. Ginah (FNSE) noted that the workshop was aimed at enlightening contractors, youths and other host community members on the mandate of the Board and the Board’s CCG.

A key aspect of his presentation was the importance of the CCG, which is intended to facilitate the effective participation of citizens of oil-producing communities in oil and gas operations.

“This enlightenment workshop on the Board’s CCG will be interactive, educative and we expect that participants will be positive and productive ambassadors of the Board”, Dr Ginah said.

A 10-year strategic roadmap implemented by the Board has resulted in a significant increase in local content levels in Nigerian Oil and Gas from less than 5 percent in 2010 to 54 percent in 2022, with local content expected to reach 70 percent by 2027 he highlighted.

He also charged participants to register on the Board’s NOGICJQS database to fully participate in the Nigerian Content Human Capacity Development Initiatives, adding that thousands of young Nigerians have been trained and attached to various ongoing projects in the industry to enable them gain requisite industry experience and permanent employment.

There was also a Question and Answer session at the enlightenment workshop.

Accompanying the Executive Secretary, NCDMB, Engr. Simbi Wabote (FNSE, FIPS) represented by Dr Ginah O. Ginah (FNSE) was Mr Esiekpe Simeon, Supervisor, Zonal Coordination Division, Mr Kennedy Nwobi, Supervisor, Edo/Delta Zonal office, Mr Ita Nyoki of the Corporate Communications Department and other staff of the Board.
