Ogbuku Hosts Edo Governor Okpebholo as Ayakoro Community Celebrates Annual Festival

Over the weekend, Chief Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), played host to the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and his entourage in his hometown of Ayakoro, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. The visit was in celebration of the Ayakoro Annual Festival 2025, a significant cultural event that brings together the people of the community and distinguished guests from various parts of the country.


Governor Okpebholo, who served as the Chairman of the occasion, expressed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his administration’s commitment to delivering the dividends of the Renewed Hope agenda. He acknowledged the developmental strides being made across the Niger Delta region and emphasized the importance of preserving cultural heritage as a means of fostering unity and progress.

The event was also graced by the Senator representing Bayelsa East, Chief Benson Sunday Agadaga, who attended as the Special Guest of Honour. Other notable dignitaries, traditional rulers, and stakeholders from the region were also in attendance, adding prestige to the celebration.

The Ayakoro Annual Festival, also known as Eyal Obeyin, holds deep historical and cultural significance for the people of Ayakoro.
