The Rivers State Government has refuted claims circulating on social media that a delegation from the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) paid a solidarity visit to Governor Siminalayi Fubara at the Government House on Sunday, March 16, 2025.

In a statement signed by Nelson Chukwudi, the government also dismissed reports alleging that former President Olusegun Obasanjo visited Governor Fubara at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

Describing the reports as “spurious claims and obvious fake news,” the statement cautioned the public against being misled by what it termed as deliberate misinformation aimed at creating tension and instability in the state.

“For the avoidance of doubt, there was no such visit by any delegation of PANDEF to Governor Fubara on the said date, neither did Chief Obasanjo visit him as claimed by our detractors,” the statement read.

The government attributed the spread of these falsehoods to individuals seeking to sow discord and disrupt the peace and developmental efforts of the present administration.

Reaffirming Governor Fubara’s commitment to upholding the Supreme Court’s ruling on the state’s political crisis, the statement noted that while the governor has taken steps to implement the court’s orders, the Rivers State House of Assembly has refused to cooperate in resolving the issues.

“The governor is ready at any time to do the needful to ensure the resolution of the issues and the smooth functioning of all arms of government in the state,” the statement concluded.
