It was an atmosphere of joy, gratitude, and celebration as Hon. Engr. Ebiye Tarabina (Mcoren), Chairman of the Bayelsa State Project Monitoring and Evaluation Board, together with his family, hosted friends and well-wishers to a colourful ceremony in honour of his beloved mother, Ma University Tarabina, on the occasion of her 70th birthday anniversary.
The event, which took place over the weekend in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State, drew dignitaries from all walks of life — including politicians, business moguls, community leaders, clergy, and representatives of various women and youth groups — who came to rejoice with the Tarabina family.
In his remarks, Hon. Tarabina expressed profound gratitude to God Almighty for preserving his mother’s life and granting her the grace to celebrate seven decades of good health and divine favour. He also appreciated all those who took time out of their busy schedules to honour his family on the memorable occasion.
The Chairman eulogised his mother as a virtuous woman, disciplinarian, and pillar of moral strength who instilled in her children the values of honesty, hard work, and humility.
“My mother taught us that hard work pays and that we must never bring the family name to disrepute. Her words continue to guide us in everything we do,” Tarabina said.
The celebration featured soul-lifting songs, cultural performances, and tributes from family members, friends, and associates who took turns to extol the virtues of the septuagenarian. The high point of the event was the cutting of the birthday cake and a special thanksgiving prayer led by Bishop Tony Odogu, who invoked divine blessings upon the celebrant and her family.
In their goodwill messages, guests described Ma University Tarabina as a woman of faith and compassion whose life of service, generosity, and devotion to God has touched many in her community. They prayed for her continued health, peace, and longevity.
