PORT HARCOURT – The Governor of Rivers State has described his two-year journey in office as “challenging but progressive and impactful,” reaffirming his commitment to rebuilding trust, delivering democracy’s dividends, and uniting the state amidst political turbulence.

In a statewide broadcast marking his second anniversary in office, the Governor expressed gratitude to the people of Rivers State for the overwhelming mandate given to him on March 18, 2023, and his subsequent swearing-in on May 29, 2023, as the 7th democratically elected Governor of the state.

“Today marks exactly two years since I took the oath of office. I thank you once again for the trust, honour, and privilege to lead our beloved State,” he said.

Acknowledging the political challenges that have rocked the administration, the Governor admitted that the turbulence at times slowed the pace of development. However, he emphasized that the administration has remained focused and steadfast in its resolve to put Rivers State first.

“In spite of the hurdles, we have recorded modest but significant achievements in healthcare, education, infrastructure, youth empowerment, human capital development, and inclusive governance,” he stated.

He commended the people of the state for their sacrifices, resilience, and continuous support, adding that such encouragement has emboldened him to push forward, not retreat.

“Our focus remains clear. We are determined to emerge stronger, more united, and more result-oriented. I reaffirm my commitment to peace, security, community welfare, and the socio-economic advancement of Rivers State,” he noted.

Calling for peace and reconciliation, the Governor urged all political stakeholders and residents to turn a new page.

“To those still carrying the weight of our recent political struggles, I appeal to you – let us come together and focus on our shared goal of progress and unity. The time to rebuild and rise is now,” he declared.

As the state enters the next phase of governance, he promised to make bold but necessary decisions for the enduring good of the people.

“I look forward to working hand in hand with all of you to build a Rivers State that stands as a model for the rest of Nigeria,” he concluded.

The broadcast marks a reflective and forward-looking moment for an administration navigating political complexities but remaining committed to delivering on the promise of democratic governance.
