As the race for the governorship of Bayelsa State shift to November 11, an aspirant of the Labour Party (LP) Engr. Udengs Eradiri said he is inspired to contest because of the failure of leadership in the state.

The former President of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) said he would change the narrative if he gets the mandate of the people, adding that he would desilt the rivers and rivulets of the state to tackle the menace of flooding in the state, stressing that Billions of Naira had been lost to the yearly floods.

He regreted that despite warnings from metrological agencies, the state government has taken the warnings with a pinch of salt.

Erdiri further noted that he would concentrate on the development of the agricultural sector, creating value chains that would empower the people thereby creating wealth for them .

He also emphasised that the power sector would be given the needed attention, thereby enhancing industralisation of the state.

Erdiri who spoke with journalists shortly after casting his vote at his unit of ward 10 at Agudama/Ekpetiama in the Yenagoa Local Government Area, express satisfaction with the conduct of the election and the peaceful disposition of the people during the electoral processes.

He attributed the apathy of voters at the urban centres to the out-come of the Presidential elections of the 25th February, stressing that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) is a game changer in the electoral processes.

He emphasised also that education health care delivery and Youth employment would also be given attention, adding that his administration will be people’s centred .

“I will empower the people with funds as a way to create jobs, restore night life. I am confident that I will win the elections here because our leaders have failed us and we need to correct the abnormality.” He noted.
